Souper Bowl of Caring
On Sunday, February 7th, St. John-St. Matthew-Emanuel will participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring. From a modest beginning in 1990 - 22 Columbia, South Carolina churches raised $5300 for local hunger organizations - the Souper Bowl, always held on Super Bowl Sunday, last year raise over $10,000,000 for charities all across America. This year, following the earthquake in Haiti, the Souper Bowl is re-emphasizing that churches are free to direct the money they raise as they see fit, and encouraging donations for Haiti. We will send our collection for Souper Bowl of Caring to Lutheran World Relief / Haiti Earthquake Response. The youth of our church will be collecting on Sunday, February 7th, as you leave worship. Please give generously.
