Training for Worship Leadership

Worship, done well, has an air of prepared spontaneity. At St. J-M-E we follow the Ordo, the formula for the Mass that has been followed by Christians since the beginnings of the Church. We do so in a manner that seeks to breathe life and vigor into that ancient form each time we gather.

Those who assist in worship leadership - acolytes, assisting ministers and lectors - do much to set the tone of worship. Their roles, performed effectively, support the congregation in being attentive to their own participation in the liturgy, the “work of the people.”

As we begin the “new year” this Fall, we will offer training sessions for acolytes, lectors and assisting ministers. Each session will take place immediately after worship - with time to get a cup of coffee first, of course - in the sanctuary.

Acolytes gather on September 13th.
Assisting ministers - this includes communion assistants - meet September 20th.
Lectors meet on October 4th.

If you do not currently have a role in worship leadership, but are interested, pleas contact Pr. Parsons in the office. If you are already a regular participant, please plan to attend the relevant session(s) that relate to your worship role.
