Tour de Revs 100 Days for Hunger
May 13th – August 20th Visiting Metro New York Synod: VISITING THIS CONGREGATION THURSDAY, JUNE 11TH 2:00 P.M. What is the Tour de Revs? Following Jesus’ call to feed the hungry, three ELCA pastors from West Virginia have put feet to the pedal and seats to the saddle to travel 13,000 miles by van and a bamboo-framed bike for three, visiting all 65 ELCA synods to raise awareness and funds to help eradicate world hunger. Their goal is to raise $5 million—about a dollar per pedal stroke for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal. What can I do to support this venture? What is the Domestique Challenge? In bike racing a domestique is a rider who works solely for the benefit of the team and its leader. Where domestiques finish in the race is far less important than the help they give. The Revs consider themselves domestiques of Christ, and invite us to join them by promising to give at least $10 per month to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal for the next two years. That is about 33 cents per day!! What if I can’t make such a commitment? How do I know my money will be put to good use? How can I give to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal? How can I find out more information? www.tourderevs.org
