What is the Tour de Revs? Following Jesus’ call to feed the hungry, three ELCA pastors from West Virginia have put feet to the pedal and seats to the saddle to travel 13,000 miles by van and a bamboo-framed bike for three, visiting all 65 ELCA synods to raise awareness and funds to help eradicate world hunger. Their goal is to raise $5 million—about a dollar per pedal stroke for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal.

What can I do to support this venture?
• Pray for the success of this ride
• Plan to attend one of the gatherings during the Tour de Revs’ visit to MNYS, June 10th to June 12th
• Give to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal by accepting the Domestique Challenge or making a special gift.

What is the Domestique Challenge?

In bike racing a domestique is a rider who works solely for the benefit of the team and its leader. Where domestiques finish in the race is far less important than the help they give. The Revs consider themselves domestiques of Christ, and invite us to join them by promising to give at least $10 per month to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal for the next two years. That is about 33 cents per day!!

What if I can’t make such a commitment?
Consider giving a special gift to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal above and beyond what you usually contribute. The MNYS Hunger Committee suggests an amount of at least $25.

How do I know my money will be put to good use?
ELCA World Hunger is an efficient and effective program, and a good steward of the gifts it receives. Ninety-two cents of every dollar goes to help people.

There are several easy ways to do this:
